How to Choose a Wedding Invitation Photo

The ultimate way to make your invitation truly one of a kind is to include a photo of you and your love. You can incorporate your special moment on the front with a text overlay or on the back as a photo collage. Please keep the following in mind when selecting your photos for your invitation:

High-Resolution Images

Not all images or cameras are created equal. Make sure that the image you are using is high enough resolution so that it can be printed. For our standard invitations, we recommend a high-resolution image of at least 300 dpi at 5″ x 7″.  If you still have questions, we are happy to help you determine if a photo is high-resolution. Feel free to email us the image you’d like to use and we’ll check it out.

Correct Photo Orientation

Consider the orientation and layout of your chosen picture. If you want the invitation to be vertical, a vertical image is best. However, that being said, we can usually make either orientation work with some design trickery.

Color Contrast

If you have your heart set on text on top of your photo, consider the variation in colors in the photo and the quantity and placement of open space in the image. A photo with lots of variation in lights and darks will make it very difficult to design a text overlay. We’ll work with you to make sure the photo and your design ideas will work together to give you the best invitation possible
